With more than 10 years of experience as a delegate, chair & organizer of MUNs, Simon is acting as Secretary General of BruxMUN 2017. Convincing young people of the opportunities the MUN world has to offer in every aspect of our lives is one of his most important messages. Simon equally acts as the chair of the Working group charged with promoting MUNs in Flanders and is the current President of VVN Youth

Under-Secretary General for external relations – Sara Van Genechten
With several MUN experiences and as the current MUN officer for VVN Youth, Sara functions as the Under Secretary General for external relations. She stresses the importance for young people to master the arts of public speaking, negotiation and debating learned through MUNs. Skills that are not easily obtained in class but through practical experience.

Under-Secretary General Public Relations – Charlotte Battistella
As a Communication Management and Public Relations student, Charlotte attaches great importance to coherent communication, both internally and externally. Charlotte functions as Under-Secretary General Public Relations at BruxMUN. She believes that PR and international relations can not be mutually exclusive. The committees are discussing current social issues and thus achieving a solution that is good for all parties involved. Under-Secretary General Liaison – Rakoen Maertens
With experience in youth politics and NGO representation at UN organisations, and now serving as Liaison Deputy President in VVN Youth Flanders, becoming part of the BruxMUN team came naturally. Rakoen has a passion for partnership creation and takes diplomacy to heart. Getting a deep understanding and multilateral view on affairs is what drives him into the MUN world. At local level, Rakoen also acts as MUN Officer in Ghent.

Under-Secretary General for Public Relations – Balder Bongaerts
Experienced with Model United Nations and Model European Union, Balder is in charge of Public Relations for BruxMUN 2017. He believes students and young people should have access to a platform where they can develop their diplomatic skills at a young age. He is convinced that young people are underrepresented at international organizations and at ‘high-level’ political decision making entities it is for this reason that he believes MUNs are the perfect place to acquire skills and knowledge.
Balder equally functioned as the Chapter Leader of the Brussels section of VVN Youth during the academic year 2016-2017.

As a student in Political Sciences and as the current chapter leader of VVN Youth Brussels, Gilles is convinced that learning goes much further than simply studying. An MUN is the perfect event to learn the skills that are missing in a classroom. You learn to debate critically and to search for viable solutions that everyone can work with, you learn to be diplomatic! These skills are useful even in your future life!
